Why Should Enamel RTU Powder Not Be Evaluated Solely by Fineness?
When selecting RTU powder, many enamel manufacturers instinctively focus on the “fineness” indicator, assuming that the finer the powder, the higher the quality of the enamel material. However, in actual production, pursuing an extremely fine particle size may instead create unexpected problems throughout the production line.

The particle size distribution of enamel RTU powder directly affects the suspension stability and flowability of the subsequent enamel slurry, the controllability of coating thickness, and the final surface quality after firing.
If the powder is excessively fine overall, it can easily disrupt the original rheological balance of the enamel slurry, resulting in abnormally high viscosity, excessively rapid settling, and excessive coating thickness during application.
On the other hand, if the particle size distribution is unreasonable and the proportion of coarse particles is too high, the slurry may not disperse evenly during preparation. This can lead to pinholes and rough spots on the enamel surface after firing, directly affecting both the appearance and corrosion resistance of the finished product.
Rather than pursuing the “finest possible particle size,” the real core competitiveness of RTU powder lies in achieving a reasonable particle size distribution that is well matched to the specific production process.
