Why Add Water Before Powder When Using Enamel RTU Powder?

Time : 2025-12-18Hits : 218

Enamel product manufacturers know that enamel RTU powder, as a standardized enamel glaze material, is incredibly convenient and quick to use, requiring no ball milling—just add water and stir evenly. However, the sequence of "adding water first and then adding powder" versus "adding powder first and then adding water" can significantly impact the final quality of enamel products. Based on extensive production experience, we strongly recommend that when working with enamel RTU powder, water should be added first.

Key Reasons for This Procedure

1.Prevents Settling of RTU Powder

If powder is added before water, it can quickly accumulate at the bottom of the container, forming hard clumps that are difficult to break apart. This not only requires more effort to mix later, but also makes it challenging to ensure a uniform blend, which ultimately affects the adhesion of the enamel layer.

2.Reduces Bubbles in the Enamel Slurry

Using the method of adding water first allows the powder to disperse slowly and fully soak in the water, preventing a high local concentration that can lead to the formation of numerous bubbles upon contact. If these bubbles are not eliminated in a timely manner, they can result in pinholes, blisters, and other defects after baking, reducing the product's qualification rate.

This seemingly simple sequence is actually a critical detail in ensuring the quality of the enamel. This practical production experience should be taken seriously by enamel product manufacturers, as it aids in improving production efficiency and product quality.
